KNYSNA NEWS – Knysna’s Gardening at Leisure club recently held an exhibition to show off the art of miniature gardening.

From 12 to 14 October, people could view these miniature gardens at Metelerkamps in Waterfront Drive and hopefully got some ideas on starting the hobby for themselves.

According to club chairperson Denise Voysey, miniature gardens are especially appropriate in view of Knysna’s current water restrictions Knysna.

“We usually had open garden exhibitions, but it has become too expensive and we do need to save water.

“We thought this exhibition would be a good idea to show people that anyone can make a little garden of their own. It’s a good hobby to get into,” she said.

Voysey said that there were about 70 miniature gardens on show cultivated by members and nonmembers of the club.

At the miniature garden exhibition was (from left) Denise Voysey, Esther Townsend and Kathy Michaelides who are all actively involved in Knysna’s Gardening at Leisure club.

Esther Townsend, the club’s web administrator, said the public loved the exhibition.

“They come in, faces looking all normal, but when they leave there’s this little smile on their face that shows they loved it,” she said.

If you missed out on the miniature adventure, there’s a video of Kathy Michaelides, treasurer of the club, talking about the miniature gardens below:
